Effect of Permanent Magnet Stirring on MnS Precipitation, Microstructure Evolution, and Mechanical Properties of High-Sulfur Micro-alloyed 49MnVS3 Steel

An experimental investigation has been conducted with respect to the influence of permanent magnet stirring (PMS) under different rotation speeds (0, 50, 150 rpm) a center magnetic flux density 1450Gs on evolution MnS precipitation, microstructure, and mechanical properties high-sulfur micro-alloyed 49MnVS3 steel. The thermodynamic calculation results indicated that began precipitate in 1419 °C accounted for more than 84 pct total final solidification temperature 1404 °C. revealed when speed increased from 0 rpm, mean length decreased 7.2 3.2 ?m, distribution precipitates was random uniform, due PMS-enhanced turbulent flow Taylor number 9.21 × 107. Moreover, content intragranular ferrite (IGF) rapidly 0.3 3.1 pct, while grain boundary (GBF) 11.2 9.2 after PMS rpm. formation is related precipitation (Ti, V, Nb) (C, N) edge small uniformly distributed MnS. In addition, tensile strength toughness steel are enhanced owing beneficial changes small-sized promoted ferrite.
